My Ph is 8 and my water is soft. All my angels thrive in it. I have another planted 55 with a breeding pair of angels current in it. This is my other set up.

The tank I'm currently working on now is going in our living room since it's so nice. This is the whole ensemble empty.

Soft alkaline water is pretty unusual. Still, I believe hardness is a more important factor than pH with most species. That's a very smart looking tank. It's a shame you're not planting it - it'd look so nice with an aquasoil substrate and lots of plants around that wood you have.

Yeah the live plants I'm just not wanting. I'm still looking for that one perfect piece of Malaysian driftwood that will balance the tank better I just haven't found it yet. I don't want to get to crazy with the wood. I still have to keep room for the angels swim cause they will get pretty big especially the veil fins.

Check out redmoor root. I find the shapes are generally more pleasing than other types of bogwood available on the market, but once waterlogged will go very dark brown (not bright orange as they are to begin with).

I'm fortunate that there's a lfs by me that gets driftwood shipments in about twice a month. It usually always Malaysian.

Update on tank. My water is clearing up nicely. Just did a 25% water change that's why the bubbles on the glass. Here's a pic, the plant's on the left will be coming out, just got them in there for now to block out the Christmas tree light's. The driftwood consists of 4 pieces. I'm going to add one more just haven't found the right piece yet. I will probably add a little more rock too.

Personally, I think those plants or something similar would look really nice all along the back of the tank, behind the wood and rocks.
