Hmm we'll see.. I'm working out things with a seller.. If he accepts the payment form that I want to go with I'm going to try it out. If not I'll hold off and rethink things.

If you're hoping to spawn them the bumblebee cat will snatch the fry at night assuming it (or the parents) don't eat the eggs before they hatch.

We'll see. My goal isn't to have them breed. I really wanted a cichlid that formed monogamous pairs and raised their fry jointly. I always loved German Rams but never had the guts to try them out. If I ever decide I truly want to raise the fry they have then I have a 2.5 gallon I can move the fry to. I doubt it will ever get that far though. I really want to try them out. We'll see how things go.

EDIT: Just bought myself a mated pair of German Blue Rams from Aquabid. The seller is fairly new to the site but so far they don't have a any negative or neutral feedback. They don't interbreed or inject their fish with hormones. The breed all their fish themselves using wide gene pools and mated pairs are fish that bonded naturally out of a large school of fry. Hopefully the pair stays together through the transition to their new home. Wish me luck you guys!

I'm wondering why you want a pair if you aren't interested in breeding them. Still...too late now. I do hope your cories survive this introduction.

I was wondering the same thing. A breeding pair of rams can get very aggressive especially when they a protecting fry.

I've looked around quite a bit and asked on other sites and there have been mixed reviews. Mostly the responses I get say that the cories will do alright. I'm hoping so as well. I have old extra tanks that are set up and enough filtration on my 20 gallon that if need be I could take one of the filters from the 20 gallon and move them to an old 10 gallon and just set that up for the rams. I'd prefer not to but I could do that if I really wanted to.

They're supposed to ship out Jan 6th and around on the 8th or 9th. Wish me luck you guys. The countdown begins c:

It's not unusual to sometimes get conflicting advice when solicited. After reading through all of it, sometimes you've just got to go with your gut feeling and try it out. What works for one may not work for another. I'm hoping your choice works out for you. Let us know after these guys settle in.

Thanks so much for your support. Most people who replied here seem to be convinced something bad will happen with my choice. They may or may not be right but I wanted to try out GBR's in this tank.

I think it's perhaps more that the replies are out of concern for the welfare of your fish. There are no guarantees with any animal, of course, but what you're doing is a bit of a gamble and you went ahead and ordered them regardless of advice on here. Fair enough...I hope it works, for the sake of your fish!

Well I took the gamble not disregarding your replies, there were just more responses from people elsewhere saying they believe this would work and I found plenty of examples of people who did the same thing as I am and had good results. But as you said it depends on the fish so I do hope things go alright.. I'm not really worried about the cories, its mostly my catfish. Hopefully they get along well and no one harms each other.
