    Look through here http://www.davesfish.com/

Click on the link with each fishes name and maybe you can come across your fish.
When I go fishing I just throw sharp rocks in the water and wait for the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.

I have to admit, I am not well versed with african cichlids, but after comparing the picture of your fish with pictures of iodotropheus sprengerae(rusties)
I certainly think it is likely. aside from the fact that your fish appears quite a bit paler, body shape, fin shape, overall color scheme and markings do seem to correspond.

Thanks for the link mommy1 and madagascariensis do you think the paleness could have been a result of him spending several weeks outside in an otherwise not so pleasant environment , lord knows what he had been eating , no heat except for sunshine during the day , fresh water only when it rained , his only companions were frogs and snails , then on top of that being tossed back into an aquarium .He does eat well now , fresh water every week , heated water at a constant 76-78 *F, ph , constant at high 7 , 0 trites and 10-20 trates , soft water . Is there a kind or brand of food that would maybe darken him up or should I let it be and continue to feed him the Tetramin Tropical flakes and the twice weekly Omega One cichlid pellets? Thanks for your time and your responses.

Wow... I have to ask, what happened to the poor thing? Was he in some sort of pond?
I happen to know of a really great fish store that has a twelve-by-eight pond out back, about three feet deep, clean water, used for their 3"-5" goldfish. There's a yellow lab outside, the fish kind, and he's apparently been in there for a while. Somebody apparently left him in there, possibly a drop-off, and nobody bothered to get him out because he seemed happy.
I hate hearing people say "it's only a $3/$5/$1 fish/shrimp, so it's ok if it dies, I can just get another." It's still an animal! All animals should be treated like they're worth $10,000.

Ah, it's an african cichlid, so it likes highpH and hard water. What else is living with it? If the other species could tolerate it, get the pH up from 7 to at least 7,5 or even better 8. Crushed coral as a substrate or in a bag in the filter etc would help increase both pH and overall hardness.

tried to copy the post that I described what happened to him but can't , but you can read about his terrible adventure in my thread titled 'yet another id' in the tanganikiya section . thanks for the advise , and jeff I think he is a rusty too. Do you ya' think bringing up the ph and the hardness will make his colors darken up . Oh yeah madagascarensis ,fishkeeper he's a loner in a 30 gallon.

Its certainly an African chichlid. I had it for 6 months, but had to return it to the lfs as i had mixed South American and African chichlids.. So with the expert advise of the forum members it kept all South -American Chichlids and returned African.

Its called "blue dolphin chichlid" in India. Exactly the same that i had.
