I have decided on a white bottom.. I was thinking Coral Crushed or White Rock... whatever is whiter and
safe for the tank
1) is Crushed coral ok for freshwater tank?
2) how bad will it raise my PH?
3) is it HARD to clean?
4) Can i OLNLY have African Chicllids in the tank now?
I still don't know what kinda fish im putting in my 55 gallon tank...

A nice white(ish) sand meant for freshwater aquariums would be best IMO
I would think the best approach to stocking your tank would be based on the size of the aquarium and your water parameters of your tap water. If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

I agree with Cliff. Sand is neutral as you have not figured out your stock or even type of fish you want to keep.><((((º> ><((((º> ><((((º> ><((((º>

If you can find it, pool filter sand is awesome. Most places that sell hot tubs and pools will carry it. Sand is easier to clean than most people think.

1. Sort of. It's sharp and causes the water hardness to skyrocket.
2. Don't think it will go beyond 9. It will massivly increase the water hardness.
3. Not really
4. No, you can also some central American cichlids.
I'd avoid it because it's next to useless for most freshwater setups and because I personally try to avoid any products that are made of coral

Crushed coral is perfect for Rift Lake cichlids (Lake Malawi, Lake Tanganyika, Lake Victoria). It can also be used with other hard-water-loving species such as mollies, guppies, and some rainbowfish - although these species prefer planted set-ups which crushed coral is not ideal for.
