looks like an apple snail to me. Supposedly there's some way to tell the gender based on something about the angle that part of the shell takes - I've seen pictures but I didn't really understand them. Do you WANT babies? If so, your best bet would probably be to get a handful of new snails, if you have room and biocapacity for them. Odds are you'd get at least one male that way.300 gallon mega tank: sailfin pleco, clown loaches, silver dollars, roseline sharks, congo tetras

I am tempted to do that. This is the first snail I had that didn't keep falling upside down and dying before I could find it.
