  1. Default BBA- this was wierd!

Ok, I just have to post about this.
I've had black beard algae in my tank for a while. It used to be a real problem (out competing some plants) until i got the nutrients and such under control. So, the bba wasnt spreading and only grew on 2 rocks that aren't covered in moss.
Until today. I looked at the tank this morning, and nothing was new. However, when I just looked at it a second ago, ALL the bba is gone where it was growing before. I have done nothing differently: the only thing I can say is that I'm a couple days late on a water change.
Can anyone think of an explanation for this? This seems truly amazing to me.

Its far fetched but bba is also known to grow under conditions with too much light and too little nutrients too. what if you just somehow got the right balance
by not following your usual routine and letting nutrients accumulate a bit. I had that happen with hair algae. i kept trying to cut down nutrients and it kept growing. then I decided
to give up, quit doing big water changes and quit starving my fish. the algae then petered out.

Being a few days late with a water change would have meant just a bit more nitrates... I suspect you may have been a bit low on nitrates in the system

Hmmm...I suspect you're all right. Now....Three days ago I did a water change, and now I see a little attempting to grow back. I don't want it to grow back! I'll try a higher dosage of nutrients. Thanks for the help!
