  1. Default New to this forum and new to tank keeping!

    Hi everyone!

So, my name is Emma and I live in Northern California.... I have had fish before and currently have red-eared sliders but I still consider myself new to all of this. I have just purchased a 30gl tank, well I think it's 30gl. I bought it from a friend and it belonged to her mother so she isn't sure lol but it is either 30-36/37gl from what I've compared it to. Anyway, this will be my first organized tank and I just wanted to say this forum has lots of great stuff!

I still have no idea what kind of fish I am going to keep but I'm reading as much as possible before I even start setting it up

I also have a small 2.5gl desktop tank that I am going to setup, where can I find info so that I won't overcrowd either of the tanks? Is there a section where I can see some examples of how many of certain types of fish can fit into certain sized tanks?

    Thanks in advance guys

welocme, i just moved from norther claifornia, concord walnut creek area, where abouts in N cal?

Anyway online there is a fish stocking calculator, just google aquarium fish calculator and a few should come up.

a good one will be able to tell you what species and how many are compatible in what size tank and how much filtration are needed, its not perfect but its helpful.

    good luck

Welcome to the forum, 1st of all - 2nd of all, no one here would recommend putting any fish into the 2.5gal - it's best suited for shrimp or snails.

If you post in the correct subforum you will find lots of people responding - good luck!

    Welcome to the forum
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
