ok since you guys are having fun watching I will post a few more from this afternoon but first a word from our Sponsor

WARNING DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!!! I have seen threads where people talk about cutting foam with a hot wire in their soldering iron.

White bead styrofoam is fairly safe to do this HOWEVER never use this on the blue or pink household foams. they can produce a cyonide gas when burning and make you very sick or worse. Aslo not all foams are the same so before you wire cut foam check to be sure that the foam is safe if wire cut.

We Now return you to our previously recorded program

you can see in the second picture where the paint melted but it turned out ok if i had used blue there it would have looked like a small river.

in the front views you can see my bottom guys will have plenty of nice overhangs and caves to hide in. I then added the overhang shelf on top of this and since a lot of the borromt is eaten away I angled the shelf some to make it look like it has shifted downwards

not all of the large shelf lines up front to back this is to allow it to look layered.

my brain has been thinking of ways to cover the foam and I think if I think some elmers glue out with water and mix in some really fine sand like you get with model trains or even some dirt I can get the effect i have visioned in my head then seal everything off with 2 or 3 coats of concrete waterproofer.

it is still a mental work in progress as I am just writing down ideas in my journal so later on when ready I can come back and see what I thought of hehe.

well change of plans sorta wifey says she likes the aquarium low to the floor so the grandkids and dog can see it easily. wont be too bad for me as sitting in my office chair the top of tank comes about eye level.

i am kinda disappointed though and I wanted to make a nice stand and hood for it and not let it look IMO half-assed I wanted it to look classy but she said the dog and kids would have hard time seeing it soooo it will stay on the stand.

I told her I wanted to get either black or deep blue/green paint for the back glass so the parts where the background isn't covering is covered so wires etc hidden.

so as soon as she gets pump water kit and heater I can start getting ready for water as soon as background is finished.

she wants me to get one of them colorful backgrounds for the back with the rocks and grass and I just know its going to look weird against my rocks so will see which she picks out this weekend and figure out a new plan of attack.

the funny thing is shes not really into the aquarium and could care less if we had it or not. though she always liked the others once they had fish in lol

ok since wife changed everything around let me ask this. do I need to somehow put nooks and crannies and hide spots for the top and upper level fish or will they come down? I have a couple new ideas but want to make sure all the little guys have their secret hiding holes
