The making of my Mbunas tank.
Ok so I decided I'm going to do a Mbunas tank since I already have hard water from the tap.
The wife and I went out on a rock hunt today for the tank. This is going to be a 55 gal tank with sand and rock. Two penguin 350 bio wheel filters,200 watt heater and what ever else I need. ( Can't think of it right now) I'm going with Kennys, Electric yellow and maybe Labidochromis sp Hongi. From whet I have read these will go good together.
This is the tank 55 Gal
These are the rocks I did the vinegar test and they are ok. I ended up getting enough for three tanks LOL so I could pick out the best ones to use.
Soaking in hot water.
If anyone see a prob please do tell and guide me in the right direction please.

Looking good. Be sure to stack your rockwork before putting the coral sand in (if you're using coral sand). Set the rockwork on the tank floor. Cichlids will dig and tumble rocks that aren't secure. I'm thinking you'll need a lot more rocks to make the required stacks for these fish.
I'm looking forward to seeing this develop.

I always put eggcrate down on the bottom of the tank first. It helps to spread out the impact if anything falls and I can silicone the bottom layer of rocks down and it eliminates any pressure points on the bottom that the rocks might cause. It can be purchased at any home improvement store and it isn't expensive.
WhiteEggcrate_img_lg.jpgWhen I go fishing I just throw sharp rocks in the water and wait for the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
A moderator on a fish forum should be able to identify an oscar... Don't you think?
Dear naps, sorry I hated you so much when I was a child... Love me
