I pick these plants because they are tough. Does anyone have goldfish and plant exprience?

    Is there anything I overlooked?

I am not a goldfish expert by any means, but I would have to say that a 29g tank is not sufficient space for one, let alone two ranchu goldfish. They reach six inches in length. I will however defer to the more knowledgeable goldfish members.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]

Gogi what I've read is that 1 ranchu = around 40 gallon tank. Yet other places state 10 gal tank min per fish.
Seems to be a lot of variance.
I guess if I were you I'd look for more info on line unless someone here comes up with a more specific answer. Good luck!

Just to add to this (and aside from the fact that your tank is too small) - the temperature is at the top end of what ranchu goldfish should be kept at. You will shorten their lifespan keeping them at this top end. Remember, they are not tropical fish.

Who would put a fish this size in a 10-29 gallon tank? Personally if I were a goldfish person, and I am not, I wouldn't put one in less than a 40 gallon and two in less than a 55 gallon.

People say if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all... Then they wonder why am I so quiet.
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
A moderator on a fish forum should be able to identify an oscar... Don't you think?
