So I'm using my HOB filter as a refude with some Cheato and a small light in it for filtering, and I was curious if I should add the carbon filter media that the filter uses? Would this be good or bad for my tank?Current tanks:

I have added carbon on occasion to my set-up because some of my corals looked off. I dont think it would hurt at all. I dont know if the carbon took anything out of the water or if my corals just had a bad few days, but everything came back to normal after three days. I removed the carbon after that.Warning; Bulldog Pleco guarding my Sons tank now..

I like running carbon in my set-ups more as a preventative measure. If you want to run carbon, I would suggest doing it in a separate HOB or internal filter. If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
