As others have pointed out, the rockwork looks a little artificial. The biggest thing that stands out for me though is the wood - can you angle it at all so it's at more of a diagonal slope? You could stack up some of the more slab-like rocks underneath it, or as Byron suggests - have it in a corner rather than bang centre.

My best advice is to look at some professional aquascapes to get some ideas as to what you want to achieve with yours...assuming you're wanting plants as well? This is a basic starter guide but you get the idea re: composition.

Here's a couple of scapes with a large piece of wood:

Very nice! For my black background, I used a piece of black fabric and attached it using 2" spring clips (the large ones you clip stacks of papers together with). Works, well, isn't permanent, easy to take off and wash if needed!

What do you attach the clips too? I used double side adhesive tape, it seems to work so far.

Looks good. How does the piece look tipped forward more?

Very nice, the vibrant green of the plants make the sand really pop white. The lack of slate looks great because the round smooth stones really give it a sparse riverine feel. Like it!

Your tank looks really great! Can't wait to see how your fish enjoy their new home. Keep up the good work.

Added all my amazon swords from another tank so I could focus on this one, think they will be okay with 40 watts and root tabs?

I really like the pic up above. Just a very simple scape with the swords and DW
