  1. Default cloudy ammonia for fishless cycle?

    0 Not allowed!
looking at doing a fishless cycle for my 300L (79Us gallon) tank, done some indepth reading and now looking for ammonia supply. found chemical cleaner at local hardward store containing 20g/L ammonia, i shook it and it did not foam which from my reading this means it is suitable to use for a fishless cycle.
however the product in question is 'cloudy ammonia' and im just wondering whether this is safe to use? some initial reading suggests that this contains soaps etc, but the product doesnt foam when shaken.
can i do a fishless cycle with this 'cloudy' non-foaming ammonia?

I would be skeptical. Have you read the ingredients on the bottle?

Also, it is easier for us to help you if you keep most of your questions to one thread. Unless they are a significantly different topic, not related to setting up the tank, it's best to keep them all together so that people reading the thread can have as much info as possible. Maybe a mod could merge the threads for you.

What is usually recommended is janitorial strength ammonia - I've never heard of "cloudy ammonia" Hmmm....

Do not use cloudy ammonia, it has soap in it....use ammonia like this one, ammonia hydroxide and water, no additives: http://www.acehardware.com/product/i...ductId=1307957
