    Default 42G Bare River Bottom

    0 Not allowed!

So this is my 42G bare river bottom tank. Filtered with a u4 fluval internal and an eheim 2215 Im sure. Now I know the cichlids are pretty heavy stocked, the Parrot was a 'prezzie' from the girlfriend, however it will go back when it grows a bit. The tank was mainly designed for the yellow acara. Hope you like it.
    My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .

The acara is lovely. Who nipped its tail?

Are those silver dollars? They grow big and are quick!

    Not keen on parrots.

Ive been away on field work for 4 days now and came back to the nipped fin, im guessing it was the parrot, first ive seen that and they have been housed together for at least 6months. If it continues the parrot will be leavin sooner rather than later. I got dollars as dithers until I could gauge the Acaras temper, once they put on some weight I can swap them at my local lfs.

I think that spraybar really distracts from what's otherwise a quite nice hardscape. I'd say if you want it that low consider replacing it with a glass one.

Nice tank -- never heard of a yellow acara! I really doubt it was the parrot who nipped the acara, considering parrots can barely close their mouths, if at all. I'd put my money on the SDs. They can be nasty things.
