Bitten by the Betta bug (again)
A few years ago I had a bunch of tanks dedicated to Betta splendens. I believe I had five 5.5 gallons for males and a 26g "sorority" with about 9 females (note: I do not recommend Betta sororities).
I ended up downsizing and selling most of my fish. I'd spent a lot of money importing them from Thailand and wanted them to go to a breeder where they could be used to their full potential rather than just looking pretty in my tanks.
For awhile now the only bettas I've had are my pair of Betta albimarginata. I was spoiled by my imported B. splendens and didn't want anything "ordinary," yet couldn't afford to import again. I grounded myself from looking at Aquabid and stopped looking at Petco because nothing ever caught my fancy. Well, my 2-year-old son really likes "feesh" so I decided to pick him up one from Petco. Lo and behold, they had quite a few that caught my eye!
I was torn between an "elephant ear" (must be a new fad? I do love HMPKs but was NOT a fan of the excessive pectoral fins) dragon and the one I ended up bringing home. He looks to be a full halfmoon, although he was sold as a delta tail. He hasn't flared fully for me yet so I can't tell for sure.
Without further ado, here's Feesh.

And why I think he might be a full HM (sorry for the crappy pic):
Just thought this one was cute:
Full tank shot. I just threw it together because the Betta was a spur of the moment purchase. Pulled some plants and filter media to seed the filter out of one of my other tanks and grabbed the tank, filter, heater and some driftwood off the shelf. (The heater's an old Stealth, so I'll have to get something else since they were recalled)
I'll be picking up some more vals to add to the tank (IME Bettas love a lot of vals) and will throw a black background on there, as well.

Nice buy!! Yeah Petco is picking up its game with Bettas. I usually don't buy fish from chain stores but both petco in my area have the best selection of bettas.Roll the Dice!
