That seems about right to me. Yea it doesn't float to the very top like duckweed would.Roll the Dice!

Yes that is hornwort. If you want you can stick one of the hornwort into the substrate to anchor it. It may stay anchored for a few weeks but eventually will rot a bit and float back out. It's a great plant though, grows quickly and sucks up nitrates.

Best way to keep it anchored down would be to use some fishing line and a piece of ceramic bio ring. If you tie it just right, you can plant the bio ring in the gravel and it wont move. I do this with my moss all the time and it works great. If you have a spare pieceof bio ring its free too. The ones with holes in the middle works the best for me tho.KING OF THE GOLD BARBS RAWR!!!!
I wonder if i plant one of my tiger barbs would the demon seed grow to a full tree?

I have Hornwort and yes as Korith stated, the base rotted on me as well and most of it floated to the top where it does great!
