    Default PH Question???

    I have a 44 gallon tank with one algae eater in it. My PH is at 6.0 and my tap water is 7.6. What could cause the big difference in PH? I haven't taken the ph in quite some time.

    Little background. I recently had two fish die that I've had for almost 5 years. I've changed the water several times and recently added new carbon. I have a Fluval 204 Filter.

    I want to add some more fish and don't want to shock them with a low ph.

    Any insight is apprectiated.
