Don't know how to edit my last post ~~~~~~

Wouldn't adding frogbit( I like the look of it) make my tank dark because it stops the light?

Floating plants filter light - they don't prevent it from entering the tank and many fish appreciate some cover from direct light anyway.
46 gal fw tank with black skirt tetras, neon tetras, spotted corys, cherry barbs, otoclinus, snails & 4 amano shrimp - plastic & live plants
    5 gal QT
Remember: Our job is to take care of the water our fish live in

To your molly question, females of any variety are fine. The common molly is one species that has been developed into various strains, so a male will see any strain female as another female to mate with.

On the light, I would get a new tube and you will be fine. Take the existing tube with you to the store to make sure you get the exact same size. You want a T8 that is the same length. Good tubes for planted tanks are the Hagen Life-Glo and ZooMed Ultra Sun.

Male plecos are territorial, so be careful. Also, more than one pleco in a tank...not so sure here.
