36g Bowfront ideas
I have recently acquired and 36 gallon bow front tank and am trying to decide on what fish I want to build my tank around. I really enjoy Blood Red Parrots and I am really considering getting some for my tank. My only concern is the controversy surrounding them Ive recently been informed of. I have had people tell me that they have serious issues feeding themselves and that they go through life this way. Is there any truth to this? Before I get them I just want to make sure that they are healthy fish and a good choice for my tank. Does anyone have any experience with them?.....

let me also add that over the years I have had all sorts of different kinds of fish but never cichlids. Ive got my heart set on trying cichlids, particularly South Americans, and would be open to suggestions on which ones would work for my tank. Im so excited! This tank will also be my first shot at doing a fishless cycle so im equally excited about learning that art as well.

Dwarf cichlids are best. Many people here don't really use bowfronts. They're not the most attractive tanks in my opinion. Here are a couple links with various dwarf cichlid species.

Just to give you ideas you could go with a Badis species. They're more rustic looking fish and tend not to have bright "neon" colors. There are dozens of apistogramma species you could get, I currently own 2 Apistogramma trifasciata, there are also the Laetacara species, as well as the more known dwarf cichlids the German Blue Ram and the Bolivian Ram (Both species are very finicky with water conditions but are very common). My 10 Gallon Aquarium Journal

Im rethinking my parrot idea. I have black, orange, and red gravel with black being the primary color. I'm thinking of doing a large school of the albino cory, maybe 10 to 15, perhaps a large school of lamp eye tetra , also 10 to 15, and a school of about 7 or 8 silver hatchet fish. I think that arrangement would be fairly striking. Thoughts?
