Definitely take time selecting fish. There is a lot of knowledge before success. For instance, if you get many of the fish we have been suggesting, like tetra, rasbora, etc, they must have a group of 6 or preferably more, so 2-3 of any of them is asking for trouble.

I will try to find that water info, now I know where you live.

From all I have read I am for sure leaning towards these. 3 males right? If I have to change the water more and clean more so be it.

How exactly do I find the water parameters? I searched on the web and posted the link I got but wasn't any help it seems. I am in Lutherville MD if anyone feels like helping.
I searched and searched but cannot find any data on water for Lutherville or Baltimore County. Very strange. Perhaps a reliable fish store can tell you the GH of your water.

Three males or one male and two females, unless your tank is thickly planted, the parents will eat all of the fry, so you would not have to worry about a population boom.

So what is better to get then? 3 males or one male and 2 females?

Also I was recommended an online store to order the fish from and have them delivered. Anyone know the place?

Your choice, the nice thing about Platies is the females are as colorful as the males. Even if you get three males. there will still be some "pestering" going on, if you know what I mean.

What type of food should I get for them? Right now I have cichlid flakes from omega one but not sure if that is right for these?

    http://www.petsmart.com/family/index...Platties&fbx=0

I am not doing the mail order as I saw shipping starts at $35. These are the fish on the pet store web site near me. Are all platies ok or only certain types?
