Can I put Fluval EDGE Pre-Filter Sponge on intake of Tetra Whisper EX70 ETC...
Can I put Fluval EDGE Pre-Filter Sponge on intake of Tetra Whisper EX70 and mesh bags containing ceramic rings in the filter. And where do I put the ceramic rings? Behind the Bio-Bag, instead of the Bio-Bag, in between the Bio-Bag and the foam, or in front of the foam? The reason I want to put the sponge on the intake is so that it will grow bacteria along with the ceramic rings, and stop bigger things from getting sucked up into the filter. Do I put the pre-filter sponge inside of the bottom part of the intake that looks like a strainer or do I push it further up the tube? And, will all of this decrease my filter's gph because at the moment I have a 55 gallon tank, and the filter is set to maximum gph, which is 300. I also have another very small filter in the tank that is a Tetra Whisper 10i which just has foam in it atm, so should I go find a sponge at the Dollar Store that can fit behind the foam to provide extra filtration from that filter, even though it is a very small filter for a 55 gallon aquarium I feel that combined with the 300 gph of my other filter that it is sufficient.

If the hole is big enough then i dont see why. I know of many people who cut aquaclear sponges and use those as prefilters i am one of them. Or you could just run an air driven sponge filterKING OF THE GOLD BARBS RAWR!!!!
