  1. Default 75 gallon big fish stocking

I need some ideas for a 75 gallon stocking, I know I want to do either a big solo fish, or 2-5 medium sized fish. I was looking at oscars, flower horns, green terrors. I want a fish that has personality and is like a "wet pet." On a side note I read that dark colors wash out a flower horns color, is this true? I wanted to do black sand, black background.does the same hold true for the silk flowerhorn color morphs? Thanks

Why don't you look at rehoming a tank-buster fish? Lots of silly people buy oscars and such-like and then find they outgrow the tank. There must be lots of fish, e.g. an oscar, looking for suitable homes. It'd be a nice thing to be able to give one a good home.

Normally, putting an ad up in your LFS (with their permission of course) will get you a few calls. What country are you in? I'm in the UK and we have a listings site called Gumtree which I've seen Oscars on which need homes.

I always see oscars on my craigslist that need new homes. It might take awhile to find one, but they usually wind up in the free section if you will go pick them up.

Re-homing large oscars from other people isn't a bad idea.

But on the FH, it depends on the line it came from and what it inherited through the cross breeding and other factors as well. Most people prefer to keep faders in tanks with black background/black substrate because it stands out more. For regular FH, I'd much prefer keeping them in more neutral colored surroundings. If you're really dead on the black background/substrate, try getting yourself a nice fader. It'll really stand out.
