Did it somewhat different from the sticky - requesting comment.

29 gallon glass tank, 8 years old, looks like a Perfecto tank (it same with an Eclipse system originally)

Drilled 45mm holes in the top and bottom left corners of the back panel.

Used a cheap $6 diamond hole saw.

Taped an acrylic template to guide drilling the hole. ALSO taped the BACK of the hole to keep it from falling. Watered it with a garden hose.

Used 1-1/4" electrical PVC fittings for bulkheads. Siliconed the male fitting to the inside of the tank. Screwed on the female fitting outside.

Filled with water. The top bulkhead has an upturned ell, the bottom bulkhead has a temporary plug. All slip connections sealed using PTFE tape wrapped around pipe, except the bottom bulkhead diameter is reduced to 3/4" PVC using a 3/4" coupling glued inside the 1-1/4" male.
