How large is he? Because that looks exactly like my golden-variant sunset dwarf gourami. The 'gold gourami' I'm used to has at least three black spots and is large.
I hate hearing people say "it's only a $3/$5/$1 fish/shrimp, so it's ok if it dies, I can just get another." It's still an animal! All animals should be treated like they're worth $10,000.

    A "golden gourami" is a c0l0r m0rph 0f a blue gourami (3 sp0t gourami) and sh0uld have 2 noticeable sp0ts 0n the sides 0f the b0dy, the eye is the 3rd sp0t. If it is very y0ung the sp0ts might be hard t0 see.
When in d0ubt read it until it makes sense, then read it again!

I wouldn't be so sure. For one, golden gouramis are much larger than the pictures suggest your gourami is. For two, they are striped. The dorsal fin of a golden gourami also does not extend the full length of its back like with yours. Judging from body shape and the shape and yellow color of the dorsal fin, I think it looks like a pale honey gourami.
