    Default Inline Heaters?

I have decided to go with an Eheim 2215 canister filter for my new 40 gallon breeder tank, and I'd like to use an inline heater with this filter...

What are your experiences with inline heaters?...I suppose they just hook up "in line" with the output hose from the filter?...do they work well?

Do all inline heaters fit all canister filter hoses?...how do I know which heater to get for the Eheim 2215?

All input appreciated greatly, as always

OK, I believe the tubing that comes with the Eheim 2215 is 12/16mm, which is 1/2"...can anyone verify this?

I use the Hydor ETH in-line heater and I love it. I have a 300 watt heaters on the canister filters on my 65g and 120g and the temperature of the tank is always spot on the temp the heater is set. As soon as I get around to doing that re-scape of my ugly 29G it will have a 200 watt Hydor in-line as well.
When I go fishing I just throw sharp rocks in the water and wait for the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.

BTW, what thermometers do you guys use to keep an eye on tank temp, that is easy to view and unobtrusive?....I kinda like this one, seems it'd be easy to hide in the back of the tank, facing toward one of the ends of the tank:

I'm late to the party, but here is what I have found. As you know I *just* put together a shopping list for my 29g, so: for thermometers, I used this digital one:

    http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...9&pcatid=12089

A couple of dollars more expensive, but I love the fact you can hide the probe somewhere in the back behind some plants, and put the digital readout anywhere you want outside the tank. Like you, I went with canister filters and inline heating, so other than the thermometer there is no equipment in the tank, and the digital thermometer helps keep it that way!

    +1 to the above

I have a 300 watt Hydor ETH in-line heater as well on my 90 gallon tank. Been using it for about 2 or 3 years now and I love it. I have not touched that heater ever since I put it on the tank. Among the best heaters that I have used
