Don't know about a centerpiece fish, but a large school of 15+ harleys would look stunning in that aquascape (which I really like).

+ 1 to gronlaura, you can never go wrong with harley's, everybody should keep them at least once.

Black neons are very underated and would also look good.

I read a little about black neons, and I have to say I'm very intrigued. My question is, would a school of 6 black neons work? I am starting figure out what I want a little more thanks to all of the help I've received here.

    So something along these lines...
    10 Harleys
    6 black neons
    5 cories

What do you guys think? From what I've read, harley's stay top-mid and black neons are strictly mid. Or is two species of schooling fish too much, which I think I was told earlier.

You would be fine with the above stocking and could add something like apistogramma cacatuoides to the mix. In fact almost all Appisto species will be a great centerpiece fish as they get around 3in and the cichlid behavior is a very cool. They peck around, dont move to fast, this would be a great set up for them.

Question - is your background dark blue or black? I am considering a very dark blue background for my dual 29's.

Would 20 gallons be enough for an Appisto species? I hear they require at least 30 minimum

Looks good to me, a little small for bigger Cory's but if you went with Pandas or Pygmy it would work for sure.

    Betta+GBR seems risky to me...

    Anyways, you could try this:

    5 otos
    8 Amano shrimp
    3 Zebra Nerite snails
    10 Harleys
    6 black neon/8 neon
And, if you want a centerpiece fish, you could buy a dwarf honey gourami.

If you are interested in the Corys a lot, replace these with the otos; nerites+Amanos should do their job well. Up their numbers by 2 or so if you do this.
