  1. Question 20 gallon stocking ideas?

    0 Not allowed!
    Hi all,

I currently have a 20 gallon tall that I am writing a stocking plan for. There are some fish in there right now, but I'm only planning on keeping the two otos. The rest of the fish I'm giving to a friend. So other than the two otos, I pretty much have a clean slate. Here is where I am so far:

    1. I want a school of at least 6 harlequin rasboras or rummynose tetras. I'm leaning towards rummynoses right now. Which would be better for my situation based on the rest of the criteria?
    2. I want a german blue ram or a bolivian ram. Leaning towards blue ram right now. Which would work better in your opinion?
    3. For my "centerpiece" fish so to speak, I'm thinking either dwarf gouramis or boesemani rainbows. I'm not sure if I have enought space for rainbows based on the research I have done. Is this true? Are rainbows out of the question for a tank with healthy interactions, etc?
    4. I'm not sure about which bottom feeders to go with. I'm leaning towards 2-3 cories right now, but would a small pleco be better? Keep in mind, I have a planted tank, and don't want a pleco if it's gonna ruin the plants. Which species of pleco is better, and would you recommend one over cories?

I know there are a lot of questions, so any guidance would be GREATLY appreciated. This is the first time I'm really "planning" my aquarium, because I want it to be perfect. I have attached a picture of my aquarium so you guys have an idea of what I'm working with. Please note: The tank is still a work in progress. I am planning on adding more plants for cover. I'm also adding caves if I decide to get a blue ram. Thanks for all your help!

For that tank size rainbows, other than furcata (which don't look like typical rainbows) are out of the question

After having one, I'd recommend something other than a dwarf gourami.

    Here are a few thoughts:
    1 Male Betta
    10 Rummeynose Tetra
    2 Otos
    1 GBR
    1 Bristlenose pleco

    or

    1 Male Betta
    15 Harley's
    2 Otos
    1 GBR
    1 Bristlenose pleco
    The Dirty 75
11 Parva Rainbow, 2 Platies, 14 Sterbai, 4 Calico BN Pleco

    * these are dependent on what type of filtration you have, you will want at least 40g worth on this tank, since the two lists I gave you are slightly overstocking the tank

I love your ideas, thanks! The only thing I'm kinda iffy about is the betta. I'm not sure if I want a betta in this tank, since I already have a betta sorority. I might go into betta overload lol.

Are there any fish similarly sized to the betta that I can use as my "centerpiece." I've been researching, but haven't been able to find anything so far.

I have an Aquaclear built for 50 gallons, so should be good in that regard.
