  1. Default What is wrong with my guppies??

I bought 6 guppies 2 males 4 females about 3 months ago at a local fish store when i was out of town that they said came from a customer. They are quite large for guppies I think and are quite beautiful. They are a snakeskin/Cobra strain I believe. They seem quite healthy and literally jump out of tank going after the food when I feed them.My ph is 7.8 hardness? the temp in the summer i cant control very well and is anywhere from 80 to 84.I have them in a bare tank and keep it clean and have a sponge filter going. My problem is I have no fry and none of the females even looks like they are going have babes anytime soon.I have had guppies for years and have never had this problem. Is there any explanation as to what might be going on?I know my tanks are warm this time of year but got them in april and was not a factor at that time.

I doubt there is an issue with the guppys other than they do enjoy cover more than other fish that do well in bare tank applications. Personally I would put something in the tank for them to relate too and potentially some Najas just incase they are being eaten by the fish at birth.

    1. Your water is fine. Guppies like it warm and alkaline.
    2. A bare tank means any young born cannot hide. Ever heard big fish eat little fish? That might be what is going on
    3. If it looks like the females aren't getting pregnant at all, maybe the males aren't fertile or the males are unable to catch the females. Problems that can occur with overbred, fancy guppies with oversize floppy tails.

some horn wort and frogbit can also help fry survive, or some moss of sorts. none of those need substrate to grow either so are great for bare tanks. the moss would do good anchored to a small piece of rock or wood.
I wonder if i plant one of my tiger barbs would the demon seed grow to a full tree?
    gotta love them bunnies!
