Thread: Sad Discus

  1. Default Sad Discus

At the pet shop there is a single discus about 3 inches long and it looks real unhappy in a bare tank it has been in the same corner for the last couple of weeks would i be able to buy it and keep it with my fish

It might work in your Gourami tank but would need a larger tank eventually but I wouldn't recommend buying it. Discus is sensetive fish and if it is sad in the store it's likely even more sensetive.

I thinks it's best to only buy healhty happy discus. The petstore will likely just get a new one so you woun't really save a discus, just condem another to the same fate.

point taken, also my angels died for some reason they didnt look to happy when i bought them but now i have 2 blue gouramis about 4", 1 white gourami about 3", 5 widdow tetras, one silver dollar about 2" and a black ghost knife fish of 4"

It is amasing how even fish is so dependant n being sosial whit one another and get sad when alone. And pepole say animals do not feel things. It is obious that they do.

Yes they do. Some large cichlids actually need toys such as ping pong balls not to get boored if they are kept alone.
