I'm getting a fluval spec v tomorrow and have been looking into small heaters ,leaning towards a aqueous 10w! Any comments or suggestions? Freshwater , planted , maybe some neon tetras something small and hardy

I guess the best thing will be to set everything up, and see how the room temp is in the house first. then need to figure out what watt for 5.6 gallons etc. placement can change how much heater i might need etc.

That is true...it is fully temp. adjustable, and fully submersible...you'll need to get you a thermometer to test the water temp

I use an Aqueon 50 watt in my Fluval Spec V. It fits in the same compartment with the pump.

Honestly, neon tetras aren't appropriate for such a small tank - they need a group of at least 6 and need length for swimming space - they aren't hardy tetras either. That size tank will house a betta and some smaller shrimp.

Whatever heater you decide to get, it's best to look for one that is adjustable.
