Walmart is still good at selling dyed fish. Not sure their reason to buy imported fish rather than the fish farms right here in the US but this is typical of Walmart. They buy as little as possible from their own countrymen. A store I generally go to carried dyed fish for a short time. I asked to speak with the manager, explained the dying process, and they said they would stop carrying them right away. And they did. That was 3 years ago and I've never seen another dyed fish in their store.

    So, saying something can help!

With your climate a fish farm is relatively easy, over here it's just small scale breeders. I know of only one shop that prides itself on the fact that a significant percentage of their L-numbers and a lot of their discus are bred by themselves. For cheaper fish it's impossible to compete with the Czech.

Threads like this pop up now and again. What I never did quite get is that many people don't get suspicious if they see the exact same shaped fish in different colours that look more like cheap soda than natural colours.

I wouldn't but any animal with an unnatural colour, haven't heard of fish dying before.
I only heard about dying chicks for easter where they would insert a needle into the egg or spray-painted pidgeons in Venice.
