Thread: New Tank

  1. Default New Tank

    0 Not allowed!
I was given a Salt Water Tank from a friend, but I think there is something missing from the filter or I just can not make out how it works.
If there are pieces missing where can I get the missing pieces?

That looks like a older model of one of the Marineland sumps, but I do not know for sure.

You'll need a return pump and all the required pumping to hook it up to your main tank. I'm not very familiar with that skimmer in there, but it looks like it might be missing a bubble plate on the bottom. You might also be missing a air line leading the skimmer pump motor if that is a pin wheel design skimmer motor. Typically, those all in one sumps come with filter socks as well.

It can be hard to find replacement for sumps like that

If you want to hook it up to a display tank, the two below links might be helpful. You may also want to look into using other forms a biological filter media (like live rock) and not use the bioballs,

If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
