Anyone got experience on keeping these bad boys?
I know they don't go with fish because i used to work at a reptile zoo kinda thing and they had a metre long alligator snapper they found in a pond when it was small, someone obviously dumped the poor guy so they took it in and gave it a reasonable pond next to the caymans.
They installed a wood or bamboo like fence to prevent the turtles going into the caymans part of the pond and vice versa, though one night Billy (the metre long snapping turtle) broke through the fence and took some of his snapping buddies into the cayman territory.
Poor cayman, they had chunks of flesh bitten out of their tails and one of them even lost a leg and from that day i started taking these big turtles alot more serious.

I've kept large common snapper, but not alligator snappers. I've seen them eat everything from live fish, to birds, to even dog food. do you have a specific question?
