Thread: Is it me? Or...

In keeping with my philosophy that mindless chitchat is crucial to good mental health and overall well-being ...let's try this. I found a similar thread on a British Forum that was pretty funny.

My daughter is away for the summer, but needs to drop off various paperwork for University. I am acting as her proxy. I have signed papers to prove it to...

Yesterday I went to drop off her Immunization Record.

"Hi! I'm here to drop off my daughter's Immunization record. It needs to be on file. She's away for the summer and I'm her proxy."

    "Does she have an appointment?"

"No. She's away for the summer - working. I'm just dropping off these papers that need to be handed in and need to be in her record."

    "She needs an appointment."

    "To drop off papers?"

    "No. To be immunized."

"She's fully immunized. These are just the records that we had to send away for. I need to hand them in and I'd also like a receipt. We've been having bad luck lately with paperwork getting lost or otherwise disappearing."

    "I can't give you a receipt."

    "Why not?"

    "You're not paying for anything."

"All I need is something to say that you have received this paperwork. A stamp will do."

"I don't know if we can do that."

    "Why not?"

"Just a moment. I will check." which point the receptionist goes off behind the scenes somewhere...apparently talks to someone and makes a photocopy...she comes back with the set is stamped 'received'...and the other is stamped 'client's copy' and returned to me.

Am I out to lunch? Was that not really really odd?

lol. gotta love people like that. They get so used to how to handle one type of customer (in her case someone coming in to be treated) that they treat everyone the same

Yes, that was really odd - like what you were requesting was against the law or something and she needed to get "approval" from a superior - oh brother.

let's not forget this lady probably voted in our last election. When the poll worker gave her the receipt for that she probably said "but I didn't buy anything"

In her defense I am going to add that she probably deals with incompetence all day. Most of us can relate to having a any job working with the general public.

    TFF - too frckn' funny

My older son said I shouldn't have asked for a receipt...rather I should have asked for confirmation...

    So...maybe it is partly my
