  1. Default Malawi Stocking :)

    Hi there,
I'm beginning stocking a Malawi cichlid tank, so far I've been given 3 Yellow Peacocks, and 2 Yellow Labs, ( 60G) I'm reluctant to add mbunas to the tank because apparently they don't mix to well with Peacocks (yellow labs seem to be the exception) , so I was wondering if anyone knew of malawis that hid in the rock work ( like mbunas) but were compatible with the peacocks :)
Also, would Honduran red points / firemouths mix well with the malawis? :)

I had good luck with Haps in with my may want to look into blue dolphins as well.
I can't speak to the redpoints or firemouths, never kept any.

No red points are not compatible with malawi cichlids. Yellow labs and red zebra are just the few mbuna I would say ok to adding with peacocks. In general you want peacocks alone or with haps and potentially the aforementioned mbuna.

You could also try some of the less aggressive victorian cichlids, though they can be hard to find. There are like a billion different kinds of peacocks though, why not just do an all peacock tank?

Yes, an all peacock tank really is your best bet - you won't have to do near as much jigging of individuals if you stick with peacocks.
