OK so I have my 40g on a desk and a bit is hanging off about an inch off the front its a 40g breeder and it is the long end that is off the edge. Its glass and full, i am scared it will break, and will be moving it as soon as possible tomorrow afternoon. But will it break?

I don't think having like this for a day will hurt it. Just make sure to move it asap.

I know you can't really do anything about this now unless you take everything out, but I don't think a desk is a good idea to be holding a 40gal.

It really depends on the desk. If its a normal computer desk then no if its one of the those very big/heavy stout oak desks then I think its fine.

Most desks are not built to support ~400 lbs of weight on top of them. Without knowing how the desk was built, or what it was built with, no way to know for sure. The sooner you get the tank off of there, the better

You could lower the water level until you move the tank to help further reduce the risk. Maybe try taking out about 1/2 of the water. You will have to empty the tank when you move it any way.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Yeah, I know.it was pretty sturdy though, it held me and two friends (over 500 lbs.) But I am going around today to look for some dressers and stands.

Why not get a actual tank stand ?

Holding ~400 to 500 lbs for a few hours/days is one thing, holding that type of weight for weeks/months/years is another.

Because, I'm afraid I will put it together wrongly.

Putting together an aquarium stand isn't hard, and certainly easier then putting together a dresser. I can't recall ever seeing a dresser that I would trust to hold a 40g breeder. Just get a tank stand, most of them are only a few pieces.
