    Seriously...it is very horrifying stuff. You should have saw how dirty the tank was. He said he hadn't cleaned it in about two years (and there were still living fish in there any everything) and there was black algae on everything and coating stuff thick.

    I think I'll keep some of his rocks though, they have some nice cave formations....

    Man, that's bad...I feel sorry for the surviving fish...clean those rocks good!

    I can remember trying to clean questionable gravel once. Got some nasty cuts from glass from a heater that had broken who knows when. The questionable bucket makes me worry as well. Substrate isn't expensive.

    Just go buy some pool filter sand or play sand. I've even used tube sand with my crayfish (1" in a 55g tank cost me $5).

    I w0uld scrap the gravel. If y0u are g0ing t0 use the r0cks, b0il the heck 0ut 0f them after y0u scrub them.
    When in d0ubt read it until it makes sense, then read it again!
