Thread: Replacing lights?

So I'm thinking about buying this 40 gallon tank http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...AvailInUS%2FNo
because it seems like a nice deal and I want to get a bigger tank.
However my only problem is that it's built in Fluorescent lights rather then LED's. I've heard that LED's are much nicer and I'd much rather prefer them.
Since I'm new to this hobby I wasn't sure if it was possible to replace that light fixture with this one:
I really like the blue light system, I have it in my 10 gallon tank right now.
So is it possible to like, take out the fluorescent lights and replace with this LED fixture? I'd prefer to not have it just like sitting on top, because I like sleek tanks and not wires sticking out all over the place.
Get back to me whenever, thanks guys!

I was looking around for lights not too long ago, and I came across that one, too (I think). If it is the same one, then that one actually mounts onto the tank itself instead of the hood. It clips onto the lip of the tank and can sit above the water or even in the water if you have it going right up to the lip. (Note that the hood can still fit over it as it sits in the tank.

If you go to petco instead of petsmart, that same tank is only $40 right now...it's just the tank though, no hood, then you could buy a hood with the lights that you want10 Gallon: 8 Platys, 2 Guppies, Snails, some RCS, and plants
