Just a quick profile on this great fish, if your looking for a small peaceful tetra, the Rosy or Hyphessobrycon rosaceus is a very good choice.

"A fish flying a black flag, but by no means a pirate. In fact it is one of the gentlest and best of aqurium species". I borrowed this quote from the old Innes book "Exotic Aquarium Fishes".

A great beginner fish that will take a little harder water and higher pH, but realy look their best in softer, less hard water, with subdued lighting. An "old favorite", they will need to be kept in a small group of at least 6 but IME 10 is better, Staying small at just under 2 inches.

One of the few drawbacks to this lovely fish is; there are so many others of this family that look like them. The Bendos, Roberts, Candy cane and Copelands just to name a few, even young Bleeding hearts resemble them. Luckly they all have the same great disposision except the Copeland (I've never kept) that is supposed to have a temperment more like a Serpae.

I highly recommend you try them at least once, if you get the chance.
