Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

A warm beer is better than a cold beer. Because nothing is better than a cold beer, and a warm beer is better than nothing.

    A turtle?...
If it's called tourist season why can't I shoot them?
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
A moderator on a fish forum should be able to identify an oscar... Don't you think?

I'm going to award the artist formally known as 850R (why'd you change it, anyhow?) and GenocideX shared credit.

Background: I live in a big sub division. 600+ houses surrounded by farmland on all sides. There are a few ponds scattered around the sub division... nearest is about 500 feet away. It rained hard and long yesterday. The streets were flooding. The street right in front of our house was clear, but if you went down to the end of the row there was 6-12" of standing water.

I wasn't at home, but my wife was. My daughter's little friend range our doorbell and told my wife that there was a "shrimp" in our driveway. Uh... what? So she went out there and it's not a shrimp, it's a crayfish. And for whatever reason it's charging up the driveway. I know they can get out of water easily enough, and move from place to place... but I have no idea what possessed this one to make for our front porch. Anyhow, my wife scooped it up, filled the kitchen sink up with a bit of water, added some prime, and dumped it in. That's where it was when I got home.

It's a BIG crayfish. That's a brick in the above photo... my wife made it a cave out of a brick and a small cutting board. I spent a lot of time when I was a kid catching these guys in lake huron and very rarely did I ever see one this size. I've always wanted a crayfish but I agreed that we had enough fish tanks. Well, I guess if a critter knocks on your front door it gets to stay.

A few hours after I got home, Mr. or Mrs. Crayfish had a 10 gallon tank set up for it. (note: Zucchini's not really a crayfish staple but I don't have the recommended first choice - sinking shrimp pellets - in the house at the moment). I made it a cave and gave it some other decor but so far it's mostly patrolling the perimeter of the tank and trying to figure out how it can use the heater and filter intake to climb out of the tank (I've got it too well covered... I think). Seeing as how this pet was acquired under highly unusual circumstances who knows what kind of health its in or how badly the day's events might have stressed it, but hopefully we'll get to take good care of it for a while. Its shell seems to be covered in some sort of fuzz... not sure if that's something I should be worried about or if its just a normal consequence of living your life in a shallow, scummy pond. Apart from that, it seems healthy.

Looks like Procambarus clarkii to me. Good sized one too! Found one of these on a walkabout once in the winter. Stupid crustecean had left it's pond and discovered an ice covered bike path isn't easy to cross if you're cold blooded.

These critters will eat anything they can get their claws on. A small unseasoned piece of meat will probably be a feast to it.
