Neither have I, my big concern is to do a qt tank or not. If the whole tank is going to be infected I'll just find a way to treat it, but if not I'll do a qt for the 2 rainbows

I would treat the whole tank personally. Using the below for really tough cases

    Tank temp below 75F
    Treat with Kanamycin and Furan-2
Add 1 teaspoon of salt per gallon

Getting the tank temp down that low is a bit tough, I might be able to by unplugging the heater and having the ac set to like 75.

I just ran to the LFS, I can get a 16ml bottle of melafix (enough to treat tank for a week per instructions) for $10 and a 8ml bottle of pimafix for like $7

    I have the salt.

Do you think those treatments would work, since I believe I caught this early?

No need to set the AC. Get it as low as you can with room temp.

Pimafix and melafix are too weak. I would use real medication.

Only thing is that I don't want to risk losing the BB in the filters. And all the "high strength" meds, say they will harm the BB.

If my LFS has Kanamycin, would it be better to mix with the food, otherwise I will have to dose almost 2g every other day for a week = 8g, or two containers (which i don't mind as long as the stuff isn't ridiculous in price)

Also, incase they don't have that, what are a few other "top choice" options that could work

Also, the Furan-2 is gonna be VERY pricey for the recommended dosage - probably close to $40 for the tank (need 4 boxes)

If you can feed it even better.

The ingredients in Furan-2 is available in other fungus medications - Nitrofurazone and Furazolidone. Walmart has a bottle of Jungle Fungus clear for ~$4.
