  1. Default Barbs in a 30 gallon tank together with other fish species

Hi guys, I'm looking into getting my first ever aquarium.
I'm thinking of making a 30 gallon tank.

    I want to ad
    A few Celestial Pearl Danio
    A few Snakeskin Barbs
    A few Penguin Tetras
    A few True Rummynose Tetra

I want to know if it's safe to put the Tetras and Danios with the Barb.
Also, what do I need to do to put the Barb in a safe environment ?

The barbs might or might not get along well with the others. I would choose either the penguin tetras OR the barbs, along with the other fish. Probably because both of those are slightly aggressive, but not enough to be a problem. I would reccomend this stocking:

    8 Celestial Pearl Diano
    8 Rummynose Tetra
    6 Penguin Tetra/Snakeskin Barbs
Also, throwing in around 6 otos and 2-3 nerite snails.

If this was well planted and taken care of, it would be excellent.

    Good luck with your tank

If this is your first ever aquarium, I would drop the danios entirely. You want larger more robust fish that are easier to observe for strange behavior or sickness. Also, danios are small and shy which may cause them to be out competed for food by the barbs and tetras. Planting the tank would be a great idea as well. Tetras really enjoy plant cover and there is a very helpful planted tank forum on this site. Fake plants will work just as well as live plants. Make sure to do a fish less cycle before you add any fish to the aquarium: http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aqua...ead.php?t=5640 Good luck!
