  1. Default Stocking a 20 gal High

Hi, so, I have my tank set up and wanted to see if this was feasible.

20 gal high tank with Aquaclear 50 filter

    1 dwarf Gourami
    12 Glo Fish (Danios)
    6 Panda Cory

What fish food should I get for the fish as well. Thanks in advance.
The tank does not have sand, is that an issue for the Corys?

    I hope you're also doing/have done a fishless cycle.

It would be fully stocked imo. Cories will appreciate sand a lot more than gravel. A 20 high is a bit tight on the swimming space for the danios.

You'd feed the cories a sinking cory wafer, the rest a good flake or small pellet.

Thank you. What about instead if the danios, Black Skirt Tetras?
I'd like the corys to be happy so if not having sand won't do it, then I could get something else.

It's an option if you're planting or otherwise providing some cover.

If you want Black Skirts, you can do that but it would be 8 instead of 12. They are larger boddied schoolers. They corries could go up to 8 or even 10 being the only bottom dweller. Beware of Black Skirts if you start seeing them nip your gourami. It doesnt have large fins so its not a huge worry but Black Skirts and Red Minors (serpae) are on the nippier side of tetra.

I would also recommend Lemon, Columbian, Emperor, Penguin, Rummynose, or Candy Cane tetra.

    Black Skirts:

    Columbians:

    Lemon:

    Emperor:
    FW: 1 45gal, 1 40gal, 3 10gal, 3 30gal all community tanks of different species
    Sw: 1 55gal, 1 30gal show, 1 29gal show, 1 20gal and 2 10's

I like the look of the Lemon. What's the difference between that and a Gold Pristella? I was set on the latter, but I can't get them locally.

Corries are usually fine on gravel, though they would preffer sand. Feel free to use whatever substrate you like but in comparison, sand like Black Diamond grinding sand is usually 5-10 bucks cheaper than the gravel you would buy.

The gold pristella tetra has a more see through body than a yellow sheen to them. Here is a pic for refrence:

Also - sorry for blowing up the thread with pictures lol... I just find comparing visuals is a great way to choose your stock.

+ 1 to Sandz on his "visuals", like he said it's easier to pick out the fish you like.

The Gold pristella is a color morph of the regular pristella so their requirements would be the same.

Any of Sandz recomendatins would be better tank mates than the Blackskirts IMO.

Cory's do prefer sand but can be kept over gravel that does not have a rough edge to it.
