Help! I'm torn...
I've decided to try my hand at my first biotope (semi-biotope at least, because I'm not brave enough to delve into region-specific plants just yet) and convert my 65g 4-foot tank. My water is only the slightly softer side of neutral so I think it would be okay for either (from my research). I am torn between 2 choices at the moment.
1. West African River Biotope
1x Pantodon buchholzi -- Pantodon Butterfly Fish
10x Pelvicachromis pulcher -- Kribensis (will thin out population as they age)
10x Phenacogrammus interruptus -- Congo Tetra
6x Synodontis nigriventris -- True Upsidedown Catfish
and then either of...
2x Steatocranus casuarius -- African Blockhead/Lionhead Cichlid (if I can find a pair)
1x Ctenopoma acutirostre -- Leopard Bush Fish/Spotted Climbing Perch
2. South-East Asian River Biotope
20x Puntius tetrazona -- Tiger Barb
6x Botia almorhae -- Yoyo/Pakistani Loach
6x Botia kubotai -- Polka-Dot/Angelicus/Burmese Border Loach
6x Botia striata -- Zebra Loach
Flat out vote -- which stocklist do you prefer??

The African biotope sounds more interesting just by virtue of more species variety.

I would go with option 1.
I really like the looks of the fish in that list a lot better than the second option.

I vote for option too. I love loaches and have been trying to talk the hubby into tiger barbs in the next setup or tank revamp.
Oh and the butterfly fish kind of creeps me out.

Thanks for voting guys! I'm so useless at making decisions -- I need all the help I can get.
Poll is currently at 6:4 to West African setup (including votes from my local fish club).
