Senseless slaughter? I hope the fish will be put to good use such as being donated to homeless shelters or something instead of being, say, thrown in a dumpster when this guy is done.

Catch and release is my policy. Hey you may even catch the same fish again. Maybe not in 24 hours but in a few days.

What was even implied that this was some kind of "senseless slaughter"? Talk about jumping to the worst conclusion fist. What would be wrong with eating them himself? Putting them in the ol' deep freeze for another day? Or releasing all that were caught?

*Ahem* It helps to actually read the article...

"In order to break the current record of 2,649 fish caught, Wilkins will need to average nearly two fish per
minute (1.83 f.p.h.). The world record attempt is taking place to raise awareness for the quality of urban outdoors so close to Chicago and to raise money for two charities. 100% of the proceeds from the world record attempt will benefit two charities; Ronald McDonald House and Wounded Warrior Project. A web page is available to take donations at http://www.razoo.com/team/Chicago-Fishing-School. The current record for most fish caught in 24 of 2,649 fish caught was set in August of 2011 on Lake Minnetonka, MN."

Seems like a great cause and use of funds, to me. And no where does it state what will happen with the fish. It's likely that he'll catch and release and/or sell to a local restaurant (my guess).

When in doubt, ask yourself... W.W.L.S (What would Lee Say)?

Catch and release is faster. I'm sure thats whats going to happen because (1.83 f.p.h.), doesnt leave any one alot of time to hook them to a stringer.

If they really wanted to promote fishing on the lake here in Chicago maybe it would help if it was not $7 per hour to park on a meter for only a 2 hour maximum at which point you get a $100 parking ticket. Many of us perch anglers stopped fishing the lake after the constant harassment by the dept of transportation and their greedy hogs with the ticket books.

IWA... if the people of Chicago were really interested in change, they'd vote for something new. Supporting their party since 1923 (34th mayor). Until that happens?
