Ammonia test today, Wed June 26 came out reading 0! Woo hoo, 9 days! Problem is, tomorrow evening we leave for camping for 4 days, any tips as to what I should do?
Also, did a PH test and it's at 7.6, highest reading on the test. Insight? WWYD?

I would do a large water change before you leave, and just leave the filter running while you are gone and check it when you get back.

A couple of pics of my empty tank. Love these rocks. The giant divot in the sand is from the HOB filter that's turned up full strength...I'll turn it down after cycling and before adding fish.

No no, it's just some kind of rock, I forget what the lys called it.

Had a great time camping and added ammonia as soon as we returned. Tested the water later on and it was the same as when we left, super high 'ites and 'Ates, ammonia being taken care of quickly by the filter. So, I guess I still just wait for 'ites to go down...right?

Added some plants I got from a local person online. $2 a piece I figured was pretty good. Hers were growing very well and had nothing special as far as tech goes, just regular ol' aquarium lighting so hopefully mine will do ok. I'm a bit concerned that my substrate is only silica, and I don't intend to change that so if they do die off it's not like it was a big investment. The moss is Christmas Moss which I tied to the rocks with thread. I'm trying to avoid snails so I gave the plants a good dip in aquarium salt/water solution and rinsed before adding them to the tank. Hoping this will avoid them.

Tank is still cycling with 'ites and 'ates off the scale...sigh. Waiting, waiting, waiting.
I'm using the seachem tests for the nite's. The test comes out super pink immediately for 'ites. The test then requires me to add a powder to the 'ite test to test for "ates. Is this normal?

Here's a pic with the plants added. The one light is burned out, don't mind that, will get another one asap.

Also wanted to add that I have a freshwater clam shell I want to put in my tank. I will boil it first.

I see you're looking for stock ideas - but what is your pH and hardness out of your tap? Knowing this will make it easier to recommend fish/shrimp

That rock/sand combo looks really nice by the way.
