Ok, I finally have it down to between 0.5ppm and 1ppm. Do I need to add a little or just let it drop to zero?

For a fishless cycle in a 20g that is perfect. Don't do any more water changes and let the ammonia drop to 0ppm before you add any more.
When I go fishing I just throw sharp rocks in the water and wait for the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.

Cell phone pictures. Ammonia dropped to zero and nitrites are zero and Nitrates are holding at 10. I added a very small ammount of Ammonia to bring up to 1.

Ok - as long as it goes back down to 0, fairly quickly, you have a cycled tank! I've seen recommendations to make sure your ammonia consistently returns to 0 for 24hrs to be sure. Until you add fish, you will need to keep adding ammonia to feed the bacteria. Your nitrates are good. Once you are ready to add fish, you could do a large water change to remove any traces of ammonia (and nitrates if they get too high) and then stock!

    Unhappy Cycle Part II?

    0 Not allowed!
I have know idea what is going on. I thought my tank was cycled but I seems it wasnt. I put six tetra in the other and two days later all but one are gone. My water became very cloudy over night and I just tested my water and my ammonia 0.50ppm Nitrites are 5.0ppm and my Nitrates are 15ppm. This happen in like two days and i barely fed the the tetra so this cant be from feeding or over stocking. I have six female betta arriving Thursday and i don't know what I am going to do with them. I have been doing 25% to 90% water changes everday and the water remains cloudy..

Blah. My tank is still sitting at 2-4ppi ammonia with 0 nitrites 5 days after the initial ammonia dosing. :/
