I got the go-ahead last night from the fiance that I can put a saltwater setup in our living room when time (and $) allows.

He doesn't much care for my "river fish" as he calls them, LMAO. I will most likely still be doing everything myself though, so I'm sure I'll need a lot of advice on here. My dad kept a saltwater tank for years so I'll get some help from him as well I'm sure. I'm thinking at least a 55gal.

So now I get to research what type of setup I want and keep an eye out for a deal ;) SO EXCITED. Just had to share.

Thanks! I would like to do a reef tank. May not be for a while in that case because I'm really going to have to save up some funds ;). I will definitely be keeping my eye on craigslist for a decent setup to save a little money and maybe even someone that needs to get rid of an established tank. I'm picky with how I layout my tank design though, so I don't know...

saltwater is way better than river fish LOL There's alot to learn and alot to be spent Make sure you get a drilled tank with a sump and if you are buying new items, Dr.fosterandsmith and amazon are the cheapest sites that I found. Good luck, You will probablly need a 30 gallon or two trash cans to hold water in, Id say atleast two heaters, if not three, two pumps, one to run on your tank and one to mix saltwater with. You can also use the pump to pump the saltwater in the tank when doing water changes, I marked my trash cans at every 5 gallon mark so I know how much water to take out when doing my changes. Good luck!

Thanks everyone, the search is on! :)

Thanks for the tips GoWild, I am excited to get into saltwater and learn something new. It'll be an adventure, that's for sure! And while I must defend my current "river" fish which I do think are pretty awesome, I can understand why the other half prefers saltwater fish. They're definitely cool! I happen to like both, so both we shall have ;)
