    Default painting a room

i have to tanks in my room. both have lids.
i would like to paint my room. can i just move my tanks into the center of the room and cover them up with a tarp.
it is a small room. but it has a huge window and a door. so it has ventilation.
    what do you think?
i hear some people say, "i kept a goldfish in a bowl and it lived for a year."
they don't know how lucky they were and all goldfish live at least 15 years in proper conditions.
that is equal to saying my human lived in his closet for 5 years!

What sizes are the tanks and what are they sitting on? Also, what type of paint (latex or oil) are you planning on using?

Ok, well I wouldn't really advise lifting either of them while full because they could crack. However, if you can slide the coffee table and dresser to the middle of the room with the tanks on them, then you should be fine.

Though I can't verify these statements for sure, I would say that it'll be safe for the fish even without a tarp covering them (just keep the lids closed so no paint drips in). If you cover them, they may not get enough oyxgen. I assume the reson you're worried is because of the fumes from the paint. Looking from a chemistry perspective, oil molecules tend to be non-polar, so they don't readily dissolve into water (which is why water doesn't work to clean brushes). Latex paint, on the other hand, does dissolve into water, so I would be a little more worried. However, I still think it's fine because, especially if your room is well-ventilated, the concentration of paint particles in the air would probably be small enough that it would be safe. Just to say it again, though, I'm not an expert on paint so don't take my statements as true.

Come to think of it, I painted a room with my tank still in it and nothing seemed to happen.

You'll be fine. Just cover them up w/ a tarp and nothing bad will happen. +1 to the above about sliding them on whatever they're sitting on. Just be careful. If you need to, you can siphon out half the water to make it easier.

Just a suggestion, and you may already be running carbon, but, to be on the safe side, I would add/replace carbon in your filtration, just to help filter out any chemical taint that may occur...and change it after you are done...

    sure!
i just want to emphasize that it is a small room.
it takes 4 steps to walk across.
    will this make a difference.

I don't think you need to worry about paint fumes, I'd just throw a sheet or something over the tanks to ensure you don't accidentally drip paint in them, and be careful if you do have to move them
