So my husband and I were outside doing some work in the yard when we heard a commotion in the valley beside us.

I was closer than my husband so I walked over to see what was up. I saw a pretty large doe running and stomping our way up and out of the valley. I was like, aww, and was certain that she would stop when she saw me.

Then I noticed that she happened to be chasing my husband's Mountain Cur dog, and that she was so obviously VERY angry. So when she failed to stop.... my instinct was to... and I kid you not... run around in a circle flapping my hands saying, "I'm scared! I'm scared!" Lol.

My husband walked towards her and started clapping his hands and shouting. Apparently she came very close to stompinig our dog. After she finally noticed us she turned and went back the way she came.

My husband was like, "If she went back that way then she's got a baby up there. That has to be why she was so mad at T." (T is the dog's name)

So we ambled down the valley keeping her in sight at all times. She eventually went up the side of the hill to our left and stood there. WE watched her for a while, and eventually a little spotted baby emerged.

I have NEVER seen a deer act like that. I mean if I'm gonna die by deer at least let it be a buck!

    lol, Mandy you're hilarious.

Honestly, you're really lucky she didn't catch up to your dog. They've been known to attack dogs just for being in the vicinity of their fawn... it wouldn't even have to notice the fawn and all of a sudden a huge dear would be pummeling it. Someone actually caught the act in progress on video and it was horrible to see. You felt very bad for the dog, but the owner was doing nothing to help it... Some people are just stupid. The video actually started with a little cat looking and sniffing at a fawn laying down in the grass in someone's yard. The deer tried to pummel the cat, too... but it was too quick. The dog, unfortunately, was not so lucky. The story along with the video actually suggests that the dog is ok, but you feel horrible while watching it. =/

Anyway, I'm glad that you guys and the dog are ok. Deer can be brutal...

Years ago I watched one of those home video shows that showed a guy being attacked by a doe...it was actually kinda scary. Those pointy little hooves coming down on you, with all the force of an angry deer behind it (standing up on her back legs and stomping forwards)...can kill.

So you're smart to be cautious!

We have large deer in the city and a lot of them. They fear nothing and will attack you. We stopped putting out bird seed when the 12 pointer decided to start kicking in the house door at 2 AM to get to the bird seed on the other side of the door. I thought my home was getting broken into by a human but no, it was something much worse, an arrogant buck in rut. We used deer be gone but they just urinate over it as if to say, "nice try pal"
